HOW MANY YEARS HAVE YOU AND YOUR FAMILY BEEN FARMING WINEGRAPES?
I am a fourth generation Lodi winegrape grower, and I have been farming since 2016.
HOW MANY ACRES DO YOU FARM AND WHICH VARIETIES DO YOU GROW?
We farm 1,000 acres and grow Chardonnay, Vermentino, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Teroldego, Merlot, Petite Sirah, and Syrah.
I FARM BECAUSE...
I didn’t choose the grapes, the grapes picked me. Some of my fondest childhood memories include being left in a field with a tractor and a disc, all before I had my driver’s license.
WHAT IS THE MOST DIFFICULT ASPECT OF GROWING WINEGRAPES?
The most challenging thing, aside from the red tape, is logistics– making sure the right equipment is at the right place, at the right time, and works when it gets there.
WHAT CHORE DO YOU ABSOLUTELY HATE DOING?
Pulling weeds; it is the worst.
