I was born and raised in Van Nuys, California, and moved to Lodi in 1974.

HOW MANY YEARS HAVE YOU BEEN FARMING WINEGRAPES AND MAKING WINE?
I’ve been farming winegrapes since 1974 and I’ve been making wine for 40 years.

A community; a team.

WHO HAS BEEN THE MOST INFLUENTIAL MENTOR IN YOUR CAREER?
Robert Mondavi. He taught me the wonderful world of wine and travel. 

IF YOU HAD TO CHOOSE ANOTHER CAREER OR START OVER, WHAT WOULD YOU DO?
I’d shape surfboards. 

DO YOU HAVE ANY IRRATIONAL FEARS OR SUPERSTITIONS AS THEY RELATE TO YOUR JOB?
Farming is all about superstitions.

WHAT WOULD PEOPLE BE SURPRISED TO KNOW ABOUT YOU?
I was a rodeo cowboy. More specifically, a bareback-bronc rider.
